Fractal Garden
Fractal Garden (2009-2010) is a group of 21 low planters on wheels, which can be rolled and arranged into infinite patterns. The set consists of seven planters each of three different diamond-shaped planters containing three different plantings. Each “diamond” contains two angles that are multiples of 1/14th of 360°, allowing the pieces to fit altogether both symmetrically and asymmetrically. This division of 14ths of 360° is a function of fractal geometry, mimicking the structural patterning of natural forms. Recalling the aesthetics of the French garden and updating the contemporary parterre, Fractal Garden also evokes optics, movement, repetition and rhythm, all present in nature.

Star Wheel is a twenty-two foot diameter rolling Ferris wheel. The inner wheel is a bicycle ferris wheel powered by three riders, within a larger wheel, which looks like two giant bicycle wheels side by side with the rims connected by stancheons.
